Muhammad al-Shareef (Rahimullah)

In the Name of Allâh, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful

Muhammad Alshareef was born in 1975 and raised in Canada. In his youth, he memorized the Quran and later graduated with an Islamic Law degree from the Islamic University of Madinah, class of 1999. He is the founder of AlMaghrib Institute through which he teaches university-level seminars on Islam. AlMaghrib Institute seminars have been conducted across the USA and Canada, as well as in Australia. While he continues to teach, Muhammad Alshareef now devotes much of his time to recruiting, training and advising other students of knowledge in becoming AlMaghrib Institute instructors. Being a true visionary with exceptional talents in motivating others, Muhammad Alshareef has also founded EmanRush Audioand Khutbah.com, and actively keeps in touch with the online community at the AlMaghrib Forums.

The Shepherd's Path

For the first time since their recording over a decade ago, you have the chance to listen to the earliest classes by Shaykh Muhammad Alshareef (rA) in audio format. The Shepherd’s Path: The Seerah of The Prophet (saw), and Conquest: History of the Khulafa were among the most iconic seminars led by our late Shaykh. Taught LIVE and onsite in the early years of AlMaghrib, these laid the foundations for hundreds of AlMaghrib students who would bring this dawah to new heights. We hope that, in sha Allah, this podcast inspires a new generation of Muslims, just as these classes inspired us, and that it serves as a ceaseless reward for our dear Shaykh Muhammad (rA).

Usool ul-Fiqh

Usoolul-Fiqh: it is the science concerning the comprehensive evidences of fiqh. Since fiqh consist of either [i] masaa‘il (issues) concerning which the ruling by one of the five rulings is sought, or [ii] it is the dalaa‘il (evidences) employed in extracting and determining these masaa‘il (issues). So fiqh is actualy knowledge of the masaa‘il (issues) and the dalaa‘il (evidences).

12 Dua Immortalized in the Qur'an

This khutbah is especially appealing since not very many people are familiar with the supplications of Prophets other than those of Prophet Muhammad (SAW). The sheikh explores the supplications of other Prophets and the circumstances they were in when they said each one. This gives the listener an in-depth understanding of the nature of each supplication and how it can be related to our own circumstances. By this, we can utilize the words of the Qur'an and the speech of the Prophets.

Islamic Schools - Who's Responsible

Spear of the Devil

Muhammad Alshareef addresses the topic of being thankful to Allah for the guidance He has given us. He mentions that for those of us who are not thankful to Allah, a veil is put upon us, swallowed by disobedience. The blessings which Allah has given us such as our senses, if used in disobedience to Allah, become the spear of the devil instead of a protection.

Bathe Yourself With Money

Clearing the Fog

In the world of Islamic da’wah, many methods have been constructed and implemented. Many preconceived notions of how da’wah is to be done have been enforced. In this presentation the speaker dispels many misconceptions regarding the forms of da’wah and replaces these notions with what is truly effective.

Eman-The Verb

Eman. The Verb. In this lecture, Muhammad Alshareef talks about the common pitfall of taking our Eman for granted. He encourages us to realize that if we do not have an aim in this life to reach Jannah, then by default, by the passing of time we will indeed be of the losers. It is only when we realize our purpose in this life will we attain high Eman, manifesting itself through our actions.

Accidental Reflections

Excerpt: "Haroon ar-Rasheed (r) once prepared a lavish banquet and adorned his castle with the adornment of this dunya. He invited so many guests, and as the special guest, he invited the famous poet Abul A’tahiyah. When he arrived, Haroon ar-Rasheed said "Describe for us this bounty, this beauty we are now in.” The poet said: "Live as you wish, safe, in the shade of the towering castles.” Haroon ar-Rasheed said: "This is excellent.” Abul A’tahiyah said: "That whatever you desire is brought to you whether it is in the morning or evening.” Haroon ar-Rasheed said: "This is beautiful! Then what is next?” Haroon ar-Rasheed broke down in tears for the poet said: "When the souls quiver in the shade of the rattling chest at that moment then you will know for certain that all of this was nothing more than a delusion.”

Return and Pray

When Wolves Become Shepherds

In this audio lecture, Sheikh Muhammad AlShareef gives a detailed analysis of the Shaytan's plot to lead humanity astray and ultimately land them in Hellfire. The content of the lecture is easily understood by the listener, as the Shaytan's plot is broken down into a series of levels. These levels categorize information concisely, and give the listener the opportunity to classify themselves as a member of a certain level. Discovering that one falls into a certain category allows the listener to diagnose his or her shortcomings and then find a suitable solution, insha'Allah. The lecture, however, does not leave the listener thinking, "Now that I know what my problem is, what do I do from here?" This element of practical application is a reoccurring theme in many of Sheikh Muhammad AlShareef's lectures.

Struggling To Submit

Struggling to Submit or Struggling to Surrender to Allah merely by the title describes the theme of this lecture. What are the causes of not taking heed to Allah’s commandments? This presentation answers this question and its purpose is meant to spark thoughts and energies in regards to sincerely applying the revelation and fully surrendering to Allah.

The Last Supper

In his farewell lecture at Darussalaam, College Park, MD, Muhammad AlShareef expounds on the lessons we learn from the life of Prophet Eesa (AS). He begins with the story of Maryam,(AS) her virtues, the virgin birth as well as the trials she faced. Prophet Eesa’s(AS) compelling connection to us as the Ummah of Muhammad (SAW) is discussed, as well as his virtue of patience, wisdom, humility and the gratefulness to Allah (SWT). Muhammad Alshareef takes this opportunity to remind us that for every obstacle we face, we must remember lessons from the life of the prophets and see these obstacles as way to grow stronger in working for the sake of Allah(SWT).

Time Management

In this lecture Muhammad al-Shareef shows you how to implement such things as: - How to focus - What Islam teaches us about Time - Get what you want from your Time - Understanding the analogy of your life as a traveller

Mama I’m Waiting For You In Jannah

The loss of a baby is an unthinkable trial, yet an undeniable truth. At the blow of first shock, the mother is struck with a tidal wave of questions, thoughts, and emotions that none can understand except her Lord. Her world shrinks, her heart hurts, and all matters suddenly become trivial. With such a whirlpool of emotions, what is the single most crucial lifesaver to pull a mother out from an ocean of sadness? The Messenger of Allah(sallah Allahu alayhi wa sallam) said, “By the One in Whose hands is my soul, the miscarried fetus will drag his mother to Paradise by his [umbilical] cord if she was patient [with the miscarriage], hoping to be rewarded.” [Ibn Majah, Hadith # 1305] The connection a mother feels with her unborn child is not imagined, but real. Knowing the essence of the Akhirah and the Mercy of Allah (swt) is what brings the coolness to the eyes and the pleasure to the heart. “The title of this Ilminar alone brings tears to my eyes. I want to do a lecture that may, by the permission of Allah, be a source of comfort for parents all over the world who have experienced the loss of a loved on. These are REAL issues that do not normally get addressed. I intend to champion it

The Fasting and the Furious

Muhammad Alshareef discusses how to overcome the motivation dip in the middle of Ramadan. Ramadan is like a 3-lap NASCAR race that most kick off with a well-oiled and fuelled machine only to discover it needs maintenance by the time it hits Lap 2. Because they haven’t prepared for the middle slack before they rev again into the last 10 days of Ramadan, they’ve suffered a major loss in being the foremost in ‘ibaadah

Anger Management

Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him, reported: Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) said: The strong man is not the one who wrestles well but the strong man is the one who controls himself when he is in a fit of rage. [Sahih Muslim]

Protecting Our Imaan

It is the greatest gift that is given by Allah to his creation, namely belief and submission to His Existence and Authority. The sheikh talks about the importance of protecting our Imaan in Islam, addressing the different levels of faith with their distinct characteristics and susceptibilities.

Part 1 | Part 2

The Story of Ka'ab Ibn Maalik

The Muslims had conquered Makka, and news of this conquest had spread to Ceaser, of Rome who decided to extinguish the Prophet (pbuh) and his followers, thus extinguishing his threat. As the Prophet readied for war, excuses were made by the hypocrites to be excused, thus the Prophet excused them. This is the story of Ka’ab Ibn Malik others who were distracted from war by their material possessions, but who were sincere and did not make excuses like the hypocrites when the prophet returned. This tells of the trial, Allah placed them through, and then the reward they were granted for their patience, mentioning their deed as revelation in the Qur’an.

Sleeping Habits of Prophet (PBUH)

By Muhammad Al-Shareef. We all feel regret, but did you know that regret is the first step towards salvation and forgiveness from Allah? Some may feel compelled to the depths of despair, but Allah has given us this great bounty of feeling regret after committing sin, thus causing us to turn to him and seek his forgiveness. This talk is both valuable and timeless, as practical examples of true life experiences are shared by Muhammad Al-Sharif, which illustrates that within regret we can attain true success.

Trip To The Hereafter

Rasul Allah (SAW) taught us that in Jannah is that "which no eye has witnessed, no ear has heard, and that which has never been imagined by any human."

Worlds Bravest People

Character Of The Prophet

Referring to Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) Allah, Most High, says, (And you (stand) on an exalted standard of character.) (Al-Qalam 68: 4) (Ye have indeed in the Messenger of Allah a beautiful pattern (of conduct) for any one whose hope is in Allah and the Final Day, and who engages much in the praise of Allah.) (Al-Ahzab 33: 21)
